Working together -- Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of coaching do you offer?
I'm a strength and conditioning specialist and what that means is that I use exercise to help people get stronger and increase their capacity to do more of what they love (both in and out of the gym).

What can I expect from our sessions?
Sessions are 55 minutes long and what we do will largely be dependent on what your goals are. Generally speaking, most of our time will be spent strength training using a variety of tools (that could include barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, cable resistance, bodyweight and more).

Beyond just exercising, we'll talk about how exercise and movement are going throughout the week during times when we're not directly training, any challenges you might be having, etc. I believe that coaching is more than just leading someone through a work out - it's building a relationship so that we can troubleshoot together and find sustainable habits that will last you well beyond the time we spend working together.

How often will we work together?
I see most clients once a week with a few more frequently. It's also possible to schedule something less frequently on more of a check-in basis. I am flexible with what works with your budget and what makes sense for your goals.

How much are sessions and what's included?
I sell sessions in packages (1, 5, 10, and 20 session packages) and the cost per session decreases with the number of sessions purchased. A single session is $135. For clients that I'm seeing on a regular basis (at least once per week), programming for when you're on your own (home workouts, workouts at the gym when we're not together), is included. We'll work together to decide a frequency and amount that works best for you for additional programming.

Where do you coach?
I coach either in El Cerrito in a small, private studio or online via Zoom. I am not currently able to make home visits but virtual sessions can work well if you're not able to come to El Cerrito! I also coach in Berkeley at a powerlifting gym called Bay Strength.

Can you consult with me on nutrition?
I'm happy to discuss the basics! It's beyond the scope of an exercise professional to assign meal plans or give specific advice for addressing medical conditions. We can chat about general concepts of nutrition and I love talking about building habits to improve health. I am sensitive to the fact that many of us (myself included) have navigated a complicated relationship with food and our bodies.
